Ashley :: bridal

Ever heard of the phrase “the perfect storm?”  If not, its a moment when several factors come together at one moment to make one epic event.  This is what I call Ashley–my perfect storm.  This girl is literally and uberly (I don’t know if that’s even a proper adverb!) talented and I can’t even find a word in the dictionary to describe her!  She knows how to pose, she’s confident, she did everything I asked with ease, the dress she chose was perfect for her figure, and to top it off, she’s got such an awesome personality!  When you couple her talents, with our passion, and a beautiful location with delicious light, this is what happens…

Looking for a florist?

I only take the time to blog about something GOOD.  When I believe in a product, I’m going to do my darndest (yes, that’s a word!) to let people know about it…well, I won’t be annoying. :)   So here’s the story of Debby at DreamCatchers Flowers and Events:

Recently, my good friend Debby Mullins decided to leave her “paycheck” career and pursue her passion she had left just a few years prior–floral design (yes, design…it’s not just a fluffy word to make it sound more regal…she really is a designer!).  Boy, can you see that it definitely IS her passion in the work she does!  If there’s one thing I understand, it’s knowing the difference between a paycheck and a passion!

About a year ago, Debby decided to start up her own business and go full-time with DreamCatchers Flowers and Events, which couldn’t have been a better decision.  She’s a very talented lady, and you can see it in her work.  Her designs are really fresh, fun, and different with a classic, timeless flair; this is great because nothing that she does will go out of style in a few years.  Naturally, I was thrilled when she approached me to photograph some bouquets for marketing and a local wedding show.  After seeing what she produced, I realized that we share a lot of the same vision on our personal styles!  Throughout the next year, I had the pleasure of working with her with at least two more weddings, and it couldn’t have been more fun.  Check out Debby’s work below, and give her a call some day!

Hannah + Dakota :: wedding

Growing up, many things influenced and shaped me into the person I am today.  I loved going to car shows with my dad, playing soccer with my best friend Landon, going out on dates and getting all dressed up, exceling in school, etc.  With all that going on, I can say that one of my favorite things was being part tomboy/part girly-girl.  I could throw a football with my “guys” like it’s nobody’s business, but then get all dolled up and ready to go out on the town (but not too far in high school!).

One of the things that I love the most about being a photographer is meeting someone I have something in common with.  When I met Hannah, I learned so many wonderful things that make up this sweet, yet tough and elegant young lady.  She likes to surf and be athletic, but still looks stunning when she’s ready to go out.  She’s tough, yet elegant, and I’d like to say that we share that!

Every couple I meet is obviously in love, but there’s something really special about Hannah and Dakota.  I loved seeing how he looked at her, and in turn how happy it made Hannah.  It wasn’t just the time he first saw her–it was every time they looked at each other!  Check out some of my favorite photos from their wedding day and enjoy seeing the love this sweet couple shares.

I wanted to give a special shoutout to Debbie Mullins of Dreamcatchers Flowers and Events in Claremont, NC and the beautiful job she did on the flowers!

Wedding: June 26, 2010

Angie :: bridal session

I love different things. I love doing things differently. Naturally, when I met Angie Lowman Davis and heard about all the wonderful ideas she had surrounding her bridal session, I was really excited. First, her dress was totally handmade Sabastian Ready, who owns a local bridal boutique (http://www.sabastiansboutique.com/). Angie also wanted to remember her father in a very sweet way; he passed over a year ago and she really wanted his memory to be part of her wedding day. We visited his grave and got some photos of her bouquet and Angie sitting on a memory bench. Check out the photos below and see how beautiful she looked!
