But then again, I don’t…not when Valerie and Andrew walk through my door!  Even though the first session got rained out, that meant that I got another make-up session…yay!

The first date got rained out, so we got to play around in the studio just a bit.  When our second session rolled around, we ventured out to a local park and got a little adventurous.  Remember the infamous waterfall session from last year?  Yeah, well, I got to do it again.  :)  Valerie and Andrew told me that a) they were adventurous and up for anything, and b) I could be as creative as I wanted.  What a recipe for an awesome time and an awesome session! Every single photo I’ve taken of them has oozed with emotion and turned out to be one of my strongest (and favorite!) engagement sessions to date.

Needless to say, I’m really excited about their wedding in October.  Here’s a small sampling of their photos from both sessions…enjoy, just as I have!

Jessica and Tyler are getting married on Saturday, so I’d love to take this chance to post some of my favorite photos from their engagement session in honor of one of my favorite couples. We covered everything from downhome country to a fierce air guitar session during the shoot. Needless to say, I had a blast with them! I’ve enjoyed every second with you guys, and I can’t wait to see you this weekend!

When I arrived at their house, I stepped out to a lovely picnic set out under a huge, stately oak tree resting directly in front of the sweetest little bungalow I’ve seen in ages. The house was actually passed down from Kiley’s grandma, so it is oozing with her favorite memories and fun times. I am such a sucker for things like this! I tried to incorporate as much of the house and tree that I could in the session because I absolutely LOVE when couples want to interweave something sentimental into their sessions.

So enough talking, right? I know you guys probably want to see some images now, so enjoy! Thank you to Kiley and Rob for two awesome and very fun sessions!

Over the past six months, I have seen them struggle, persevere, win a huge battle, fall more deeply in love, and start the beginnings of a marriage of which any person would be envious.  When the time finally came to do their engagement session, I was so thrilled to finally get to spend some time with them.

Then Kiley told me where…App State.  Oh well, she’s cool.  Rob’s cool.  I can look past Happy Appy.  All kidding aside, I had a blast.  In fact, I love Boone (the city!) and I go there with my husband all the time.  I think the coolest part of the session was when we got to photograph part of the session at Mast General Store.  Kiley and Rob were so stinkin’ adorable, I couldn’t get over it!  Kiley even bought me some of my favorite candy, Sixlets.  We roamed around ASU a little, and even got to take some adorable pictures of them in their cap and gown.  Kiley and Rob just recently graduated, so add that to their incredible list of recent accomplishments!

Melissa is my sister, but not at the wedding. However, she IS cool and deserves a shout-out. What’s up, sis?

PHEW…this is going to be fun. All kidding aside, Alyssa and Kris are a breath of fresh air. They both have fun and fresh personalities and you can’t help but want to hang out with them. Quite the jokesters, they had me laughing the entire time. I love their personalities, but I also love how good they make ME look. Don’t believe me? What am I thinking? Today is my first day at the studio! Get your rumpus out of bed!

I slowly got out of bed, took a quick shower, and got ready. As I got in my car and rounded the corner to Startown Rd, a huge smile flooded my face.

I can’t believe this. Thank you God, for this…for everything. I can’t wait to get to the studio!

I walked in, put my stuff down, and reality set in. I said hello to a few neighbors, and then went to the back to assess my first move. I set up my surround sound speakers, no boys needed, and they worked beautifully. With country music blaring throughout the studio, I started to set up MY space the way I want it. This is finally my home…my office…my space where God can use me to create beautiful things for His glory. After a quick bite to eat for lunch with my lovely husband, I headed to Morganton  to visit my buddy and business partner, Chris, at TPS Photography ; we did some much needed brainstorming for the new year. A great way to start out an engagement post is to show some of my favorite ring photos from the actual session.  Normally, I take these at the wedding, but I couldn’t resist not taking a few shots of these beautiful sparklers!

Julia and Jarvis are tied for my favorite engagement session of the year…they are known as my “waterfall couple,” and took quite a few risks for me.  You can definitely see why this is one of my favorite sessions!  Also, check out their full post here.

Another one of my favorite sessions started with a carousel and ended with me helping change a flat tire.  Needless to say, it was one of the best AND most eventful sessions to date.  Check out Andrea and Greg’s full post here.

Ms. Ashley…you all know her VERY well by now, and she’s always been a joy to photograph.  She’s become a wonderful friend to me, and she’s gorgeous inside and out.  Check out my favorite photos from her session, and see the full post here.

I’ve had so many Ashley brides this year.  This one is adorable, and even cuter when she’s with her beau Matt.  Aren’t they infectiously adorable together?

Ms. Ericka, another Southern sister from another mother.  My camera loves her, and so does the rest of the world.  She’s a social butterfly, just like me, and a gorgeous person to photograph!

I captured this photo at a local old warehouse and absolutely fell in love with the result.

Chastity and Matt were married back in October.  I loved their session so much because of how natural they were together, the strength of the photos, and their willingness to go anywhere and try anything!

Finally, Katie and Brent’s session…AT THE BEACH!  It was so much fun, and so were they.  We got to hang out at Fort Caswell all day long, where they met.  Having access to an old fort AND the beach at the same location is a photographer’s dream!

It’s important for me to tell you this, because when someone renders me speechless, it’s a veritable miracle.

Meet Andrea and Greg…we met them through the “real” Julia Roberts (you can see her photos with Jarvis here), another awesome bride of mine! My friends, Andrea and Greg have succeeded in leaving me without words. Yes, I’ve finally been rendered speechless, unable to find words to describe how couture, how fashionable, and how darn good looking these two look together. I don’t think I’ve ever had a FOUR hour engagement session, but I did with Andrea and Greg…I simply couldn’t put down my camera. They were themselves–natural, timeless, gorgeous, and most of all, they rocked this session. That doesn’t even cut it. I swear…its gotta be hard to look this good.

They both made it so easy on me. By the end of their session, they got a kick out of me simply taking pictures of them being “them.” They’ve just got it. They do. Plain and simple. By the end of the day, Andrea had me thinking I was a fashion photographer for Vogue magazine. A girl can dream, eh?

Before I go on and on about how much I adore this couple, we’ll get to the photos. I know Andrea’s been dying to see them, but do you blame her? Andrea, thank you dear, for an incredible time with you and Greg. I really did have a lot of fun with you, and I can only imagine how great your bridal session will be! And Greg, to you dear, thank you from the bottom of my heart for serving our country, and making it possible for me to enjoy even the simplest freedoms, like sharing my gifts, and your photos, freely on my blog. Folks, Greg is currently serving in the US Air Force; remember to take a second to leave some love for him in the comments below and thank him for his selfless dedication to our freedom. Enjoy guys!

Julia and Jarvis met at pizza hut.  According to my wonderful mom (I’m tellin’ ya, my whole family was there!), ever since Julia and Jarvis met, “that boy would do anything for Julia.”  Apparently, Jarvis was smitten from the first moment he met her.  Julia is bubbly, fun-loving, and has a heart as big as Texas.  Jarvis is sweet, intelligent, and one of the few gentlemen left in this world.  Put them together, and they make a pretty awesome couple.  My own sister has had the pleasure of being Julia’s best friend since elementary school, and you could never pry them apart.

Everyone who meets Julia and Jarvis loves them, especially me.  Especially for a few reasons:

1) Jarvis really loves Julia, and brings out the best in her.  Plus, he’s a GOOD MAN.

2) Julia’s got the sweetest smile and personality, especially when Jarvis is around.

3) They swam in a waterfall for me at their engagement shoot.  In their clothes.  A fish swam up her dress.  Now THAT is an awesome couple.

4)  They are dripping with awesomeness.  Literally.  They swam in a waterfall for me.

5) Jarvis’ last name is Roberts.  Technically, I know now have a celebrity wedding under my belt.  Julia Roberts.  YEAH!

Before I forget, I want to send a special shout out to one of the most awesome wedding parties ever, especially to Tiger and Steve.  You guys rock!  One more shout out…my lovely sister, Melissa Price, made the gorgeous cake.  Great job sis!  Lastly, Ava Phillips of AKP Creative Services did a beautiful job designing and coordinating Julia’s wedding.  This girl knows what she’s doing, so give her a call some day!

]]> http://seizethephotoblog.com/wedding/julia-jarvis-wedding/feed 0 http://seizethephotoblog.com/wedding/i-couldnt-resist http://seizethephotoblog.com/wedding/i-couldnt-resist#comments Sun, 03 Oct 2010 06:15:47 +0000 cathy http://seizethephotoblog.com/?p=1612 Continue reading →]]> I got home tonight from Ericka and Brian’s wedding at Mosteller Mansion and couldn’t wait to look at the pictures.  While starting to look through them, I noticed something that really caught my eye–Lee’s photos.  I am so lucky and blessed to have him by my side at weddings.  He will never tell you himself, but he is an amazing photographer.  Yes, he carries equipment.  Yes, he’ll never ask for any credit.  But dang it, it’s about time he got credit where credit’s due.  This dude is an amazing photographer.  Sitting there looking at his photos tonight, I realized that he really does try to better himself each wedding.  He’s so strong at what he does, and I really can trust him with ANYTHING.  That is so valuable.  We just hit a groove with working together (working with spouses is challenging, but we finally figured it out!) and the past few weddings have been amazing.  I guess I’m here to say that I love him, am proud of him, and couldn’t do this business without him.  God has blessed me with such an awesome partner in life, and for that I am truly thankful.

Okay…on to Ericka and Brian.  Ericka…goodness…I could talk all day about her.  I love this girl like she’s my own sister…she’s got one of the best personalities (and Southern accents, to boot) that I’ve ever encountered.  I’ve NEVER had a dull moment with her, and I adore her family.  She has made this wedding one I’ll never forget, and I’m SO thankful that I met her.

I bet she’s thankful she met Brian, too.  Brian has got one of the most piercing set of blue eyes I’ve ever seen in my life.  Ericka told me that’s one of the first things she fell in love with.  When you see these two together, there’s no question.  They are gorgeous together, and they are perfect for each other.  I’ve had nothing less than a good time and wonderful experiences with them, and I am so grateful to know each of them.  I adore this couple, and I hope you all enjoy a sneak peak at their photos!
